The Senate health and human services budget committee Wednesday approved a massive rewrite of Florida's Medicaid program, aimed at steering 2.9 million low-income Floridians into health coverage provided by managed care companies.

Applications open today for Hardest Hit foreclosure prevention program

The state?s Hardest Hit program began accepting applications this morning for the more than $1 billion in federal foreclosure prevention funding.

The money is aimed at helping unemployed or underemployed homeowners who can receive mortgage payments for up to six months.

Applications must be completed online at www.flhardesthithelp.org.

Previously available only to Lee County homeowners, today is the first time the program is open statewide.

Eligibility requirements for the program include:
? Homeowner must be a Florida resident who lives in the home as the primary residence.
? Homeowner must be unemployed or underemployed.
? Total household income must be below 140 percent of the area median income.
? Must have monthly housing debt of more than 31 percent of gross monthly income.
? Financial hardship must have been caused through no fault of the homeowner.
? Loans can be no more than 180 days delinquent.
